The META tag has three important components including META title, META description, and META keywords. By using the META tag, your site will rank better in the search engine.
Of these three META tags, META title is the most important. META title is displayed on the heading of the webpage document. If you don't use META title, your site won't be found by the visitors. Without the META title, your web page document will look as if it is an unfinished page or that the page is under construction. If the META title is written properly, it will catch the attention of the visitors. In the META title, you can include the company name or website name. It is not necessarily that you have to include the company name or website name in the META title. If you choose not to include the company name or website name, it won't affect your ranking in the search engine. When composing the META title, make sure you use the Google Adwords Keywords tool to find a suitable keyword to use in the title. If your title is attractive but does not contain keyword, it won't rank on the search engine. The search engine relies on keywords to rank a website. The META title must not be presented in all uppercase letter. You should make the first letter of each word in the META title a capital letter.
The second most important component is META description. The META descriptions helps the search engine to determine the content on the page. You should not use the same META descriptions for all the pages. If you want to use the same META descriptions, you must include the title of the content in it. The META description should include a keyword in the META keyword tag. The META description should be keep short.
META keywords can be excluded since they don't help must in the search engine optimization. META keywords only serve as guideline for the search engine to determine the topic of the site. The META keywords must include keywords relevant to the content of the page. To let the search engine know that it is a separate keyword, you must use comma to separate each keyword. All the letters in the keyword should be presented in lowercase form.
In Google Adwords Keyword tool, you will find three match types including Broad, [Exact], and Phrase. The [Exact] match type will list the exact traffic for the keyword. If you choose the Broad match type, it will include traffic of other related keywords. If you want to find out the exact traffic of a keyword, you should select the [Exact] match type. By using the [Exact] match type, you will be able to determine of the keyword is receiving sufficient visits every month. Google Adwords Keyword tool shows the global monthly searches and local monthly searches. You should use low competition keyword in the META tag. In this way, you will be able to rank easily on the search engine.
